I had this Saturday off and the zoo was having a special event, so I decided to take the 3 younger boys to the z
oo to celebrate "Cats & Cocoa." Rey was at Karate and Jake had Webelos to go to. So the boys & I met with the Uigaese's and went to the zoo. We weren't
quite sure if we were going to go or not because of the weather and the rain, but it ended up to be the perfect weather while we were there. It was very overcast, and misting at times, but it wasn't until we were at the exit gates to leave that it started raining. Pefect timing...in more ways than one. Hardly anyone was there so we could pretty much see any of the animals w
ithout an audience around. It was so deserted that when we went through the bird area, we all were able to get very close to them and they were okay with it. You can see in the picture with Caleb looking at the bird.

Cats & Cocoa at Hogle Zoo
Hogle Zoo puts on special events all year long and this one was called "Cats and Cocoa." Anyone
who came got a free cup of hot chocolate and they were doing a special project to take home. All the kids got to make a birdfeeder. Jonah & Caleb had fun doing it. They each picked out their pinecone that was attached to a string and the zoo person brushed o
n peanut butter and oatmeal and then Jonah & Caleb got to dip it and roll it in bird seed. It was then put in a plastic bag so they could take it home.
I hope the boys can grow up to love animals for what they are. We will definitely be back to the zoo to help them appreciate what we have been blessed with.
